Week 3: Project Presentations:

For my presentation, I revealed how at this point, my research focus centred around the intriguing realm of generative typography. However, I must admit, this topic felt quite broad. So, this task came as an opportunity to gain deeper insights and refine the direction of my research. The reason for the direction of my research topic is derived from my research log back in year 2.

Where my research topic was on the perception of typography: A study on how typography shapes identity and culture. Mainly focusing on Singapore’s identity as it is the place where i am born and raised in. This led me on to follow the title of perception of typography and branching out into something else. The word "perception" became a guiding star in my research journey, propelling me toward. At the end I shared my works that I had done in year two and revealed how I never once chose a workshop that andreas has conducted. The feedback I received was to also choose 3 keywords on my own and not from the list.

Class Sharing:

As I listened to other classmates share their work, I was inspired by the diverse range of topics and ideas that emerged. It was a journey through various fields of study, each unveiling unique insights. From explorations into the intricacies of generative art to deep dives into different identities. The exchange of ideas and perspectives that andreas spoke about was not only stimulating but also a reminder of the limitless possibilities within the realm of research and design. But also, a few of us missed out on narrowing down who our target audiences are. This will then help better shape our research. These discussions sparked my curiosity and fueled my enthusiasm to continue exploring.

Andreas collectively recommended us to choose 3 pillars from the list he has providede or 3 of which ww can generate ourselves. These will be used as prompts and the main foundation of what our reasearch revolves around.

3. Aditi's Sharing

Andreas brought his past student from the most recent graduating batch to come and share her journey through her final year project with us in this atelier. Even though it was a brief sharing, she covered her project from her initial experimentations as well as her RPO. For her RPO, she mentioned how she jsut kept on reading and readiing and sort them out and pick out those that will benefit her report. She shared her documentations on how she tackled on her experiments with human and plant interactivity which was very interesting. Her craft and her work was very well polished and it was encourgaging to hear her perspective on things as it will be what I will be going through

4. Moodboard and Experiments

I expressed my concerns for coding in design as it is relatively new to me, Not knowing where to even begin, I had a chat with Andreas which he then suggest for me to draw out a moodboard of works that caught my eye and are of my aesthetic and he will then propose the apropriate softwarre for me to get started on.

One designer's work caught my attention last semseter was in data spaces whereby i also came across in instagram. Hence my moodboard was primarily the work she has produced so far.
